moon river

Vintage fur coat.
I spent last weekend in San Francisco. These pictures are taken under the Golden Gate.
I went to Haight street for the first time, and it was pretty much amazing. San Diego really lacks in the department of vintage stores, so it was wonderful to see so many in one place! My mission was to find a fur coat (this one), so my mind was really set on that and I didn't pay attention to much else. I'm definitely going back for some more serious shopping on my next trip up there! Anyways, I found this amazing coat in this really cool little shop, Neda's Flowers and Gifts. It had a lot of really cool vintage, unique antiques, and also some very strange things like sheep eyeballs. I really would have liked to get some vintage leather gloves from there but I spent all my money on the coat!

Listening to: Breakfast at Tiffany's Soundtrack-Henry Mancini. Favorite track: Loose Caboose. This record makes me want to throw a party like the one in the movie (my favorite scene). This is one of my favorite movies, and Audrey Hepburn is just one of the prettiest people, in my opinion. I have a big fascination with her. I'll have to do a post on her sometime.

well well well

Vintage shirt and Levis, hat my sister bought me, Hue tights and Tory Burch Shoes. These are one of the only pairs of shoes I wear. I really wish I could buy more shoes, but I don't have an endless allowance and I'd really rather spend it on clothes! Being barefoot or wearing flip flops is really enjoyable for me anyways! I bought these like a year and a half ago on sale after wanting them for months. It was practically fate, since they were one of only two pairs left (and in my size too!). I pretty much wore them every other day last year. I don't wear them quite as much now. And although they are terribly faded and pretty dirty, they are molded to my feet and I just love them.

I also really like this shirt, it's probably one of my favorites. I don't know if you can really tell, but the print is a bunch of cars. My mom got it back in the 80's. A lot of the vintage clothes I wear are ones she bought back then, actually. She bought a huge amount of Betsey Johnson, and that's why I have so much of it!

Listening to: Plastic Ono Band-John Lennon. Favorite track: God. I think that John Lennon's solo work is sort of overlooked. Obviously, everyone knows the song Imagine, but other ones besides that are great too.

Happy Thanksgiving!

why aren't they like this anymore?

From top to bottom (left to right): 1933, 1935, 1932, 1933, 1913, 1921.

Magazine covers used to be so creative. They were so much more interesting than someone posing on the cover. I mean, how many variations can you get of that? I like how it's not anyone particular at all. It lets the cover go in so many more directions. I didn't even realize until recently that these magazines featured artwork on the covers for so many years.

They also seem really modern to me. When I first saw the fourth picture about a year ago, it was intruiging to me that it's from 1933. It seems so innovative! They all seem that way, actually. The last one is pretty out there. I definitely like the two middle ones the most, because of the simplicity/colors/shapes/writing.

in the flesh

Vintage sweater, skirt I made myself, Hue tights, and Tory Burch shoes.

Listening to: The Wall-Pink Floyd. Favorite track: Mother. The lighting on the last two pictures really didn't mix with the album cover, but oh well.

School tomorrow WOOHOO. um just kidding...

any colour you like

I really like this picture from Vogue Brasil for some reason. It's sort of old; from February.
The cool, bright colors remind me of some delicious dessert. If I saw sorbet in this color, I would definitely eat it!

next to you

Vintage Betsey Johnson dress, American Apparel tube bra.

Listening to: Outlandos d'Amour-The Police. Favorite track: Be My Girl-Sally. I recently discovered this album and my huge liking for it. I really like the reggae sound in a lot of the songs. Also, in the track So Lonely it really sounds like he's saying my name in the chorus. I was convinced (although obviously he is not really saying it).

hello, goodbye

This is me circa 1997...it's so amazing that these pictures were even taken, it's like I knew I was going to be doing the same thing 12 years later? As you can see, I always had a strong love for vinyl.

Listening to: Magical Mystery Tour-the Beatles, and Totally Minnie (which I completely forgot we had until I saw this picture for the first time a few weeks ago, but now I definitely remember being a little obsessed with it). Favorite tracks: Fool on the Hill and Hey Mickey. I don't think these favorites have changed! Fool on the Hill was the first song I knew all the words to.

the lantern

Vintage Betsey Johnson dress.
Listening to: Thier Satanic Majesties Request-The Rolling Stones. Favorite track: She's a Rainbow. This was the most "Halloweenish" record I could find. I think the cover is extremely cool. Happy Halloween!
